Come share observations about the quirky, silly, deep, and meaningful things in life that not only entertain on the spot, but also contribute to a great store of facts and tidbits I draw from in developing character, setting, and plot in my fiction writing. From time to time, participate in innovative improvisational writing exercises. It's all fodder for fiction!

This didn't happen for real. I dreamt it all up for my book. The scene is a very serious meeting with one of the female managers. A real top dog. The participants of the meeting are gathered, but she has not arrived. Nobody speaks, all wait in awe. Then, the door opens and a very corpulent (is that an english word? Meaning fat, but I don't want to be rude) woman enters. In that moment a mobile phone fires with the tune 'She'll be coming 'round the mountain when she comes'. Well, that is one career down the drain!

My ringtone is Hello Dolly. I've always loved the tune and I never get enough of the head turning looks I get when Hello Dolly jungles over the airwaves. My best friend has her favorite song of the moment on hers, my daughters have a selection of tunes, depending on who is calling them. My sons prefer rocker tunes that blow the walls out (thank God cell phone speakers are SMALL). My mom has Amazing Grace on her cell, an accolaide to the concept that it's an Amazing God who allows her to GET the messages on the "danged phone". But the most inspiring cell phone ring I've ever heard is a friend of mine who is working toward Emerald in Quixtar/Amway and his Ringtone says, "All people are prospects, and prospects are success in action." in a rather seductive and illicit voice. He gets more people's names from his cell phone ringing than most of us get from searching for names.

Happy ringing!

Jan

LOL post...I always find the one person in church that doesn't silence their phone or just leave it in the car. Recently, a phone went off and it was the music from the horror movie Halloween. Sounded real creepy in chuch.

My husband's ringtone on my phone is Heaven by Bryan Adams, our wedding song. My girls have set their ringtones to their favorite song of the moment.

Warmly,
Donna McDine
