I made the papers! My recent emotional experience, reading from my short story Forbidden Passion, at the Target Gallery is featured in two newspapers!

Also, I’ll be a special guest author at Washington County, Maryland’s Reading Day at the Valley Mall in Hagerstown, Maryland on Saturday, May 1st. If you’re in the area, stop by to see me. It should be a great event!
Double Out and Back was this month’s pick for a book club in Darnestown, Maryland. I had a lovely evening last night as their guest. They invited me to discuss Double Out and Back with them, prepared a delicious dinner Amelia from the book would have loved (Risotto—one of her favorites!) asked wonderful questions, let me gossip with them as part of a wonderful evening of friends sharing a love of books. I brought them some fun goodies, too! If you’d like me to participate in your book club’s discussion of Double Out and Back (no need to provide dinner!) contact me at Lisa@LLLeibow.com
If you’re not in the DC Metropolitan Area, I’m available via conference call, on-line chat, or Skype, too. I’ll look forward to hearing from you.
Best to you,

Since the release date of Double Out and Back, I’ve been touring the blogosphere, and trying to get the word out! One of my favorite ways to reach readers is to chat on BlogTalkRadio shows. I thought it would be fun to share the podcast links to some of the highlights of my radio guest spots over the past several months – just in case you missed them live. Have fun listening!

A couple of weeks ago, on The Roses of Prose, I wrote about Straddling the Line Between Mentor and Mentee. Well, you’re catching me on the heels of an excellent adventure in doing just that at the Silken Sands Writers Conference in beautiful Pensacola, Florida. In line with my current station on my journey as an author, I presented a workshop, participated in the author book signing, and pitched a new project to two literary agents. Both asked to see more! I also attended as many workshops as my schedule allowed. I came away with some fantastic new gizmos for my author’s tool kit, ranging from organizational tips, and contest strategies, to world building techniques and self-editing. I listened to two inspiring speeches by authors Diane Love and Karen Rose. I connected with industry professionals. I stayed up late into the night sharing ideas about plot structures, favorite reads, and the writing life with new friends. I even made a fool of myself trying my hand at Karaoke! (I requested a Sheryl Crowe song. However, when I got up there, to my surprise, the music that started playing was “Time Warp” from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Can you imagine? I couldn’t decide whether to be Magenta or Frankie!)
I gleaned way too much fodder for fiction during my four-day getaway to include in one brief blog post. Look for the ideas this experience sparked in the upcoming weeks!
The best part of the whole weekend was getting to spend time with fellow Roses of Prose author Laura Breck. We have been working together on the Group Blog for over a year. Internet friends are nice, but seeing Laura was like meeting an old friend!
Take care,

I’m coming off of an incredible ten days, when it comes to the flow of creative juices. If you listened to my interview on Kim Smith’s Introducing Writers BlogTalkRadio, you might have heard a little about it as I was just beginning the event. Now that I have finished the round, I can’t wait to share the results!
I had a fantastic opportunity to participate in a program called SPARK! It’s a creative exchange, open to writers, musicians, and visual artists of all kinds, SPARK is a participatory creativity event that takes place four times each year. The project’s rules are simple. Writers send artists a story or poem; artists send writers an image of their painting, photograph, or sculpture; and musicians send either an MP3 file or a link to their work on another website. Working over a set period of time, each person uses their partner’s piece as a jumping off point for new work of their own. SPARK Round 7 was my first time to participate. I sure hope it won’t be my last!
I received my inspiration piece, a painting by artist Amy Souza and my imagination took off from there! My new short story Shoshanna can be found on the SPARK Website along with an image of the Inspiration piece.
ENJOY!
What is it?
It was originally conceived when an author on the Kindleboards saw a message from a deployed troop member saying that Amazon’s Whispernet for Kindle doesn’t work overseas. The author sent the troop his book for free by email and the idea was born, and grew. He now collects names of deployed troops who would like to receive eBooks and he has shared his list to any author who would like to donate eBooks.
What I’m going to do.
I’m going to donate Double Out and Back eBooks to military personnel by sending them prepaid ebook coupons from All Romance eBooks.
It’s my way of thanking those who serve our country overseas – and in a way, it makes me feel like a member of the USO because I’m doing my part to entertain the troops!
